So for a couple years now I've been wanting to go to Ha Ha Tonka State Park. I've heard that it is such a beautiful place to visit and hike. My plan, for when I go, is to leave sometime mid morning, drive the hour and a half it takes to get there, park and hike and then have a picnic, explore the castle ruins and the beautiful views from up high and then drive back late afternoon. I want to make a whole day of it. I know it is getting chilly and I would LOVE to see the park as the leaves are changing but I'm not 100% sure we are going to be able to make it there before Winter. If we don't, I'm determined to go next Spring!

Enjoy!

My Other

A lot of craziness has happened this year and I thought I would take a minute to lead up to where I am now with my other.
Two Decembers ago I moved into a duplex with a gay guy friend of mine named Chase. We signed a 6 month lease and I didn't even get to live there for 3 months. He was too messy but blamed me for all of his problems. I was having to be a mother rather than a roommate and was sick of it. Fights and fights led to me moving out and losing my deposit. I stayed with my mom and friends for the next month and then found an apartment with my friend, Sarah that May. That went great for a while and then we decided to go our own ways in February of 2013. Nothing happened between us, we are still friends, we were just ready to do different things. I was only planning to stay with my other for a month or so until I could save enough for a deposit and find a new apartment to rent. I wasn't able to find a job like I had hoped and ended up staying another month. Then another month. Then it was the summer.
This June something traumatic happened to us, though not nearly as traumatic as what our roommate at the time, Kevin, went through. We left for a walk to a couple friends houses that lived on our same street one evening. We were not expecting to be gone but an hour or so. When we arrived home we saw Kevin covered in blood saying he couldn't see and needed medical help. After a crazy night with cops and parents and lots of blood we figured out that about 5 guys with guns came into our house and beat up our roommate and stole many of our personal items including a TV, 2 computers and a safe with money and important papers stored in in.
We were not going to be staying at that house any more. We stayed with his parents for about a month instead while we looked for our own place together.
We moved into our cute one bedroom apartment at the first of August. I love it. And I love living with him.
I'm learning so much about him and about being around and having to interact with people other than those I've been around my whole life.
Before, I feel like I had one view of how things were supposed to go. Of how things were supposed to be communicated. Boy was I wrong!
I've realized that timing is one of the key factors in living with someone. You have to be aware and careful of when you say and do things and of when certain ideas and conversations should be presented to the other person.
Respect is the other. Respecting someones space and mood is so crucial to getting along in 4 small rooms (let's say 3 because who wants to hang out in the bathroom?)
He makes me happier than I imagined I could be. He takes care of me and pays attention to the important things. He loves me and accepts me for who I am on the inside and out. I feel like that because of him I have grown to be a much better person and care for myself more, even. I'm excited to see where our relationship goes and how it develops and what he will teach me next. :)
I'm loving the location of our new place and I'm also loving how it is developing slowly into OUR place. Things are being hung and arranged as they need to be. Nothing is being rushed and it feels like us. There are still many projects to be done but each step just makes me happier and happier.

Enjoy!

Blogging again

I know I've posted a couple times recently. Well, more recently than I had been before. I think the reason I got out of it was because all the blogs I was reading (and the ones I'm reading today) are all specifically geared toward something:
Fashion
Crafting
Make Up
Photography
DIY
Home Decor
Sewing Projects
So I felt like I needed to have mine be about one specific thing or it wouldn't be worth blogging.
Silly me.
This isn't true. Because this is MY BLOG. I can make it be about anything I want it to be about.
So if you feel like reading then go ahead. I might be journaling about my life or a thought or idea that's been on my mind one day and I might be posting pictures galore another. I'm doing this for me. I feel like doing this will help me keep organized and on track for all the different things in my life I want to start working on, becoming better at and accomplishing.

So there's that.
Enjoy!

Clothing Photography Tips

So I've been wanting to find a way to take pictures of my wardrobe so I can create outfits on my computer like in Polyvore. I feel like this will help me see better what I own and what I can do with what I already have. And then from there what items I could do with purchasing to add to my look. I really want to refine my look and how I dress and make it more cohesive.
I've been Pinning like crazy coming up with different looks and ideas for the winter but I think I need to start with what I have first. I think I'm going to use this blog for a while as my "finding my fashion" place to keep everything together. Tutorials, favorite outfits and new websites to shop will be what I'll be posting next. Hope that's okay! :)

Vintage Style Pin Up Hair Scarf Tutorial - 3 Ways to Wear It!

I've been inspired more and more by Pin Up and 1940s-1950 style lately. I found this video for wearing scarfs and thought she did a good job explaining.
So I guess the next thing I need to become better at is victory curls and winged eyeliner!

Enjoy!

Tattoos I Adore

If you know me you know that I have an obsession with tattoos. I think they are beautiful and such a unique way to express yourself. Body art that is with you forever. Such a cool concept if you ask me!
I was bored at work and was looking through a blog I follow and found these that make me happy.

This one reminds me of my current roommate, Sarah. I think they did a beautiful job with the seeds of the flower and I love that they went all the way down to the roots around the ankle.

My love for tress made this one catch my eye. I love how the bear is negative space. Cool idea!

I'm finding myself drawn to tattoos that don't have the typical black outline around everything. I like the water color/splashy feel of these flowers.

Only certain people can pull off hand tattoos. I love when they are simple and beautiful like this one. Not all those words and little pictures and scary eyeballs and stuff!

Again, not having a black outline around everything gives it such a nice, soft feel.

THE NIGHTMARE BEFORE CHRISTMAS!!!! I love this move and think this sleeve does a wonderful job displaying the characters!

I would think about doing this. Not a tramp stamp on my back but just a beautiful tree :)

I love candy skulls but the fact that this one is done in dots, not shading is amazing. Pointillism is difficult so to tattoo pointillism, AMAZING!

This is closer to anything I've ever found as far as what I want for my half sleeve. It has a peaceful, relaxed feeling and I love the background!

Beautiful peacock half sleeve. Love!

Another beautiful example of the watercolor/no black lines style that I like!

Chef Hoop-a-loop is my roommate!

I wanted to do a post about my roommate, Sarah, who is competing in Springfield's Got Talent tonight with her wonderful hooping skills!
She is one of 15 acts that will be performing and competing for $2000!!!
If she wins she said she is going to use the money to purchase a fire hoop.

Earlier this week she was on the news.
You can watch the 4 minute video of her interview and a preview of what she can do here.

She is also a very talented culinary student and knows her stuff when it comes to food and being healthy. She is motivated and works hard at life to get what she wants and to get where she wants to go.
I am proud to call her my roommate and even more proud to say she is my friend.

Break a leg tonight, Sarah!
You will rock it!
